Hello to all!

I have searched for the answer to one interesting question but have been unable to find it, so here goes (long-winded background 1st):

Many years ago (5+) after graduating school with a BBA in Finance I decided that I wanted to serve my country and join the military. I did my due diligence, spoke to a variety of military personnel and ended up making my way to the Army. I spoke with a recruiter and explained what I was looking for, what the Army wanted and no games.

I told him I was only interested in going the officer candidate route and he put together a package including (at the behest of his boss, the 1st Sgt) a position as a logistics type clerk to serve only 9 months. In the beginning I did not agree to it, but after them telling me it was normal and they did it for everybody because it bettered their chances of getting accepted as an officer candidate, I relented only because it would help my chances.

Unfortunately, within a couple of weeks of my interview and their decision, the Army was no longer accepting officer candidates. Surprised, I went back to the recruiting station and spoke with my recuiter who let me know that it would be months before they would know anything. Afterwards, the 1st Sgt told me that I should get ready to ship off as a logistics type clerk within the next few days and that would be it. I was rather clear about only wanting to go the officer route and he decided to try to strong-arm me into something I did not want and literally telling me that it would be unfortunate for me later on if I ever decided to pursue a career in government. His tactics left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided against going into the military. I did not sign the paperwork to actually enroll, but I did sign the one that stated I was withdrawing my application (I read it carefully to make sure).

My questions is thus: Will I be denied acceptance into the OCC as a Bank Examiner?

I have almost 6 years experience at a bank (almost two as a credit analyst) and would like to pursue the examiner opportunity. I know they are hiring, especially those with banking experience and the ability to travel is of interest to me. What do you guys think? Am I overthinking it or is there a Federal database that will deny me?

I would think that as long as you didn't swear in at a MEPS station (military in processing station) you are fine.  I would apply for the jobs as there is no database that tells any employer that "hey I was interested in the army but they tricked me and I changed my mind".
