Conducts the nation’s foreign affairs and diplomatic initiatives; oversees the Nation’s embassies and consulates; issues passports; monitors U.S. interests abroad; and represents the U.S. before international organizations. A key component of this mission is the U.S. Foreign Service which is expected to hire 1,400 officers over the next two years.
