I can understand the "busy"! Went to see the Rockettes with the girls on Saturday, hubby went to the Seahawks game yesterday with his son and grandson. And I worked all day yesterday. Today need to finish or start some Christmas Shopping. I did all of the baking last week and delivered it to neighbors and some friends that don't back. If I don't talk to you later this week - enjoy your family and friends during this blessed time.

The United States needs to shape up. Under the Bush Administration for two terms we'd gone from bad to worst to the pits. But now the Democrats have the upper hand, they have not even used that to their advantage and put in place legislations that will help American citizens who are really in dire straits. They have to make a mess out of the Health Care Reform, it's far from what Obama had in mind I'm sure and yet he and his fellow Liberals are not standing up for their ideals. And all this talk about a recovery and there being signs of recovery just because the big banks are paying back their bailout money is BS. So if the banks have made enough money to pay the government back why are they holding out us poor taxpayers who got suckered in to help them get out of trouble. Why aren't they investing in companies that will create jobs and hire the millions of decent, currently unemployed, citizens. Why didn't they help to restructure the mortgages for the unemployed whose homes had been forced to go into foreclosures? All that talk about government stimulus money going to states to jumpstat local economies and infrastructure projects to create jobs, remains just empty words. So far I haven't seen any impact whatsoever on the local economy or job creation and reduction in employment. On the contrary, every day more and more people lose their jobs! That's what really irks me about the state of things here in the US - I'm beginning to think that politics is more important than helping its millions of downtrodden citizens. I have a lot of respect for the President but right now he needs to put his foot down and go back to his original principles. Michael, I'm sorry if I'm ranting. I'm going to stop now before I start to froth at the mouth. :-) Yes, if you put together a movement to march down Washington DC, you can always count me in.

I try to get up early so that when I do have to start a new job, it will not be a struggle. But I'm really a night owl and it's getting harder and harder for me to get up before seven. I have become disillusioned with Corporations and CEOs and bankers and brokers. Not only because of the recent spate of stories about those "fat-cats" (using the President's words) who earned bonuses at the rate that some of us won't ever dream in several years of employment while hard-working taxpayers like us pay to bail them out. Those bankers and Wall-streeters who caused the financial meltdown and send the economy spiraling downwards even faster and with it jobs and our retirement. But also because there have been so many CEO's whose greed got out of hand and when they got caught with their hands in the cookie jars, it's too late to save the company and employees got burnt along with their pensions. On the other hand, I do agree with you that now is not the time for the Feds to be awarding their employees pay hikes when there are millions of us out of work. Instead of raising the salaries the money should be spent on government projects that would be creating jobs and helping the unemployed. God knows it's not their fault there are no jobs and that it's taken them up to a year or more to find a job! I do hope that this plan to raise their salaries does come to a screeching halt, as you suggested, or the masses should rise up and revolt. Or, less subserversively, at least, like you said, gang up and petition the President.

Dear Michael, thanks for clearing that up. I misunderstood. Your daughter is a grown-up now, living on her own two feet. Great! I am with you 100% and your daughter should take your advice. The private sector has gone to the "dogs" and these corporate types are evil, greedy people who only care about lining their own pockets and the company's bottom-lines. They don't care much about their employees and they let go of their workers willy-nilly. The government offers more stable jobs, if you can get it, that is.

Michael, I was just going to ask if you stopped by to see Charger68 (GovCentral handle for our friend Mr George Weiss) while you were in Reno but then I saw his comments. You did a daytrip with no sight-seeing or casino hopping stops? You seemed exhausted after your trip. All that driving can take a toll on people like us who are not getting any younger. :-) Anyway, I am assuming that your daughter is your youngest child since you called her your baby. So you have at least four more years of helping to pay for your last child's education?
