Yes Jane, that's what I thought. He might also try to bid for the Tribe's business if he's smart and maybe I might be able to help. So it's a two-way street. If I could help him and maybe when I'm thrown out again and need a job, he might be able to help me. That's what networking is all about.

The pay would have been just what I expected but they had a nice new building and I saw a lot of potential new things I could learn in the telecom industry. And the office was in Coral Gables, the swanky part of Miami. Yes, it would have been a nice change from the Everglades. Oh well, I told the guy to keep in touch with me as friends because he was one of those people who was very easy to get along with. At the interview it's like I was talking to an old friend instead of someone I'd just met.

Dear Jane, you won't believe this but this morning, a guy with a local newly-formed telecom company who interviewed me about a month ago called me to ask if I still need a job. Why didn't he call sooner? I would have jumped at it. Why does it always happen like this? When you have already got something, the opportunities come a-knocking. When you're down and out and really need a handout, the phone doesn't even ring!

Wow sorry to hear about with the phone thing, I had that to and majority of them told the mangement that i was not worth it. but oh well
I hope that it does not snow all that much, and if it does you can call in and say you cannot get in right ???

Dear Jane: Thanks for wishing me luck. Yes I need the luck I can get because in this climate of economic uncertainty, you just never know. One minute you're happily doing your job and the next you can be let go without any notice. I know that my former boss was not happy with the person who took over my job there (not as skilled as me) so that turns out to be an advantage for me. But I'm not going to take anything for granted and will definitely continue to look for worthwhile government jobs, just in case.

Dear Jane: Good evening to you! Yes, actually I was just going to write you and share with you my good news. I'm going back to work at my old job. On Monday. My former boss actually called me just before the New Year asking me if I would come back. He also said he's going to try and get approval from the board of directors for me to come back but that he wasn't promising anything. So, really while I was happy to hear from him then I really didn't want to hang my hopes up high in case they got dashed. That's been more than a month ago and finally!
