Personally, I think USAJOBS is actually partially responsible for the bottlenecking of the type of optimization you speak of, mwredfern. As long as keyword searching is driving the main application pool on USAJOBS, and other methods are not considered, it'll be very difficult to push through any meaningful changes to job titles. If there's anything we can do to help with this problem here, let me know!

can we get some real titles though? i am new to the job hunting thing and i am shocked to see how many crazy titles there are. if we could just have a universal job label system for IT, this would make the selection a lot easier. and i think for employers, this might help me not waste their time. there is nothing worse than having to go in for an interview and have to turn right back out because you thought you were qualified.
it really sucks when you are over qualified.
