belle2877 - What is it you want to do in the criminal justice system? That is your starting point. Certainly if you want to work as a police officer, corrections officer, probation officer ect., you need to go through their hiring process. Having some work experience helps.

To clavy55 - Have you looked on the Federal or State employment sites yet? I know with aBachelors in Psychology, you would probably have a good chance in county probation. You might want to look at a Master's in psychology also for the future. I retired from L.A.P.D. and have a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and I am currently completing my Master's in Criminal Justice/Human Services. Try your states correction department for jobs like this.

I was a state corrections officer for over 4 years, and left that field. I will graduate this spring with a Bachelors in Psychology. Now I would like to become a parole, or probation officer on the state or federal level, but I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

I have over 20 years of fraud investigations, system implementation, and customer/employee training. Experience includes working in product development for Loss Avoidance systems to detect retail financial customer fraudulent activity. Experience includes years of investigation experience in the financial and commercial areas of the bank. Train and support new employee’s, have good technical writing skills, the ability to work with all levels of employees. My experience as an investigator/team manager provides me with a unique perspective of project scope, and insight into the impact of software applications in the business/banking environment. My experience working as an Investigator and Loss Avoidance Advisor has given me the opportunity to become resourceful when preventing losses to J P Morgan Chase. I am capable to study / learn and enhance applications, lead employees to accomplish goals set by management due to my superior leadership skills. I also have great customer service skills and am able to cope with the most difficult customer and clients.
