Transitioning to the fall, federal government hiring is continuing to chug along with a great demand for qualified job candidates. According to the most recent job figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the federal government had over 70,000 job openings in July and hired 39,000 people. This indicates an increasing demand for labor in the federal government for long-term employment.

GovCentral has compiled the top 20 federal agencies and programs with the most current openings according to USAJOBS.gov, the official government job search website. This is merely a glimpse of the tens of thousands of jobs available starting right now with the federal government.
Federal agencies with the most job openings continue to be related to the military. The Department of Veterans Affairs leads the way with 2751 current job openings according to USAJOBS.gov. In second is the Veterans Health Administration, which runs the veteran health care system across the country. The VA currently has 2285 job openings.
As we’ve noticed in previous job reports, many of these federal jobs require at minimum a college degree and many require advanced Master’s degrees.
