Final Review Panel
So the talent show tryout is almost over and now your complete file (except medical records) is passed along to the Final Review Panel. According to the State Department, the purpose of the panel is to “determine, from the candidate’s total record, whether the candidate is indeed suitable to represent the United States.”
Like earlier decision makers in the application/interview process, the Final Review Panel will determine whether you will be a liability or an asset, a trouble-maker or a problem-solver, a lush or a teetotaler. Are you going to be loyal to the U.S. Government or will poor judgement and shaking finances compromise your integrity and the safety of other Americans?
The State Department states that the most common grounds for rejected a candidate that has made it this far is a “recent history of drug or alcohol abuse and delinquency in repaying a debt or other evidence of financial irresponsibility.”
