Step 5: Apply for the Job

The final step in the process is probably the least time consuming, but it requires the most precision. Similar to federal hiring, most state/local hiring processes are multi-stepped and some require some form of written examination. It is extremely important that you pay close attention to the steps listed on the posting. Larger municipalities and states will probably require more time demanding application processes due to larger numbers of applicants. Though state and local governments usually hire faster, remember to stay patient because you will still be required to fill out extensive paperwork and possibly undergo an intense set of interviews. Remember to stay thorough and confident throughout the process to maximize your chances.
