Step 4: Learn More About the Department/Division Where You Are Applying
Once you have researched job postings and found one that could be a perfect fit, you want to learn more about the government department or division where you will be applying. Most of these entities have home pages describing their mission, structure and activities that they are involved in. Similar to the federal hiring process, managers at these smaller divisions make or break your application. Read through their websites carefully to determine first whether or not you would enjoy working there and the division’s organizational structure. If you are still interested, be sure to dig deeper to get a more comprehensive view of the division which will impress any interviewer that may come your way.
