Step 2: Learn More About State/Local Job Titles that Interest You
Unlike federal government jobs whose titles do not often correspond to their private-sector equivalents, state/local government jobs are usually easier to translate. Minimum qualifications and required experience sections are more comprehensive. It’s often easier for the job seeker to decide if he or she is a good fit.
One item to keep in mind is that, like the federal government, municipalities and state agencies hire for positions based on specific salary scales. These scales vary from state-to-state and municipality-to-municipality and are usually described within the posting.
