Hey! I am a soon to be graduating senior with a BA in history and government. I have a strong work history in account handling and customer service. I am looking for a federal job in the Los Angeles area. Anybody have any helpful information on where to begin? I’ve been using USAjobs, but again, it seems hard to even get a hit from there.

To: mwredfern, very good advice. I have owned a successful business for 27 years and my heart is not in it now. I have been looking for the "perfect job" and applied for a few, but now I see to apply for more. I had a adjudications officer test about 3 weeks ago and not heard back yet. I figure the folks who did poorly knew after 2 weeks and some of us are getting our back-grounds checked and hopefully passed. I am the perfect government canidate...no arrests, great credit, great KSA's, married 25 years and willing to travel. I'll keep on plugging because of the above advice and yours. Thanks for th extra tips. cc

I did not find this very helpful. Some examples would be appreciated, especially where to begin networking and what a successful KSA should look like. Also, where do I present my KSA? I have been trying to apply through USAJOBS and have not seen where they have a place to present either a KSA or a cover letter. A more detailed description of the entire application process would also be a huge benefit.

I'm an honor student and recently graduated with a BA and have over 3 years of administrative experience and I know I'm doing everything right on my applications, I apply on usa.gov but I'm never as good as the other applicants, it's been about a year now and I still can't even get an interview, this is frustrating. It seems like you have to know someone from the inside to get a guaranteed interview, who else thinks this is true?

i have been working as a government employee in my country for almost 24 years now. I hope to try my luck in the States. This is the first time I had the courage to apply abroad. I am so overwhelmed that there are Filipinos able to make it legally and I am hoping to be among them. I am hoping I can be assisted/guided in applying.

Foreigners/aliens coming in my country can get a job that fast especially in the field of sports and recreation, i hope to succeed there in the States just as these aliens are in my place.

During the last year, I have applied for over 70 government jobs and only interviewed for 2. I still have not been able to land a govt job. I am 10% compensated vet and this so frustrating. Is there anyone I can turn to get some help?

I am currently seeking re-instatement. I am aware this is a long, drawn out process, even for the best of us.

Thank you for this helpful email. It was very informative. How do you write a KSA statement? If you wouldn't mind, it would be very helpful to me if you'd email me an example.

I'm trying....You make it sound sooo simple, but I am still trying to write a good KSA. Are their any free examples or links showing how to do this?
