The Best Entry Level Government Jobs
289 Comments
There is a lot of discussion about how government-sector jobs are more stable than others in our faltering economy and about how government hiring trends are predicted to be more resistant to the economic downturn than other sectors. Unfortunately, this doesn’t do you a whole lot of good, if you’ve got no idea of where to start in order to get hired.

Hi my name is Heather Matthews and I recently graduated college with a double degree in Russian and International Studies with a specialization in Security and Intelligence. I haven't had any luck with my job search as of yet and I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice about getting my foot in the door with government jobs. Thanks!

Apparently this article is over two years old, according to the oldest comment posted for it. Things can change over time and these may no longer be the "best" entry jobs for the federal government!

This is something that I am looking into as I am currently with the Red Cross as a volunteer that works with client of both military and disasters. I am a Manager in the field of Cleint Casework that help clients to help themselves by Red cross giving them the first baby steps of returning to a normal life before the incident happen to some extent. It will never be like before but will help them to think about what to do next. WIth the millitary Red Cross helps keep communications open between family and service person by sending messages about a birth, death illness and financial aide. We, ARC, hve been there for all that need assistance from us. I have been doing this kind of work for over 23 years, and hope to continue as long as I can. I will have a associates degree in arts with criminal justice.

Just like everyone else, I am also looking for an entry level government job but all these positions ask for experience. How do I go about getting a job if I dont really have any experience? Help from anyone is highly appreciated.

I agree, I have applied for entry level jobs countless times. I even received an email stating that my score was 96 but my application was not going to be forwarded to a hiring manager. At the present time I am studying. I hope it will help me. Apparently for Gov Central everything is a paradise but in reality it is not.

My main field is Logistics management and learning the business field is a plus.

All I know for now, the government United State pretty stupid, let all the Chinese peoples get involved to much, with in all the companies, and causing all your own peoples including International peoples whose is living in the U.S loosing to many job, and the more peoples loosing the job, the less tax government going to have, how come the government United States let this happen to their Country... ? do they ever open their eyes ?
The government in China right now they are getting richer and richer. Beside that, plus all other Country getting better too....because, they know how to created more job for their own populations, except U.S just created more problem, the government U.S should look in to this situation, and pay more attention to their populations, make all rule, and try to stop all the companies, which is tried to rip of our and your labor.....I already heard so many complained, please, and please....do not let them cut our benefit when we are working so hard, but doesn't earn no shtttttttt
