how do you apply for admin asst

What can I qualify for if I have Bachelor's Degree with HIgh Honors from UC Berkeley but it's in a Humanities subject area? It seems that there is nothing that I could qualify for even at entry level. I have many years of experience mainly in retail (not a field I chose but there was little else where I live when I was younger) and I am in my 40s. Many people who graduated with me or soon after are also having trouble finding jobs because they lack specific experience. Any ideas?
