Growing Federal Jobs: Homeland Security
Kyle Stone | Associate Editor, GovCentral
Represtenting the centralization of hundreds of smaller US Government industries, Homeland Security emerged as a new, extremely important industry after Sepember 2001, and has been growing very rapidly ever since. Homeland Security encompasses a broad range of activities and occupations including:
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Border and transportation security
- Infrastructure protection
- Information analysis
- Homeland defense
Many homeland security jobs and career opportunities are with federal, state, and local government agencies, but there are also plenty of additional opportunities with private companies and nonprofit organizations.

I have been working for the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency since January 3, 2006 in disaster 1604. I was released on May 30, 2008 due to the fact that there was no longer a work load and my 2 year contract was up. I am interested in becoming a DAE or a core employee in any other disaster if there is an opening. I worked as a Mobile Home Support Specialist,Administrative Assistant,Data Entry and also a Quality Assurance Quality Control Inspector during my employment.I am also DHS COTR Certified. If there are any opening for any of these field please contact me. My e-mail address is alic1204@aol.com or aparis1204@aol.com.
