I whould like to know what to do in my case: I work as a contractror for the State Dept. my salary is 40K. I applied for a visa position and I got it. this position is a GS9 with the State. Since I work for a contractor, I assume i will start with a similar pay. This positon with my contractor is added from 41K to 46K, I assumed i will sign a new contract with the new potions title and a pay increase. my contractor told me there is no need for a new contract and no pay increase, it will be a lateral move. Is he right under the law? I just need some advised from somobody with more experience on these matters.

This is a wonderful website! I recently moved to California from Florida. I'm a Registered Dietitian, and am hoping to get a job at a military site or VA hospital. My dad was active duty USMC for 34 years, so I'd like to help the military.

I have several friends who work for the government and they give this site a thumbs up. So far I agree with them. I am interested in changing careers. Most of my career has been in the field of education. I have over 20 years of experience in management and training and most recently in DOT compliance.

Hi, I currently am deployed with the military in Afghanistan and was in Iraq in 2005. I am in the Tx Army National Guard and will be coming back to the states soon and will be looking for a job. The last job I had outside the military was in the medical field. The Hospital I worked at shut there doors. I am going to take my time looking for a job and hopefully this will be the last job I ever have to look for before retiring. I want to stay in East Tx area. Thanks for any help in looking.
